Debt Consolidation Companies: Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Friday, July 31, 2009

debt consolidation

It's difficult not to notice the incredible growth that there has been in companies offering debt consolidation programs and solutions over the past few years. At first, debt consolidation companies were some of the biggest advertisers on the internet and there are now more loan consolidation TV commercials than we've ever seen before. However, a great number of these debt consolidation companies are now being sued by numerous attorney generals, the IRS, and the FTC over their supposed ‘non-profit’ status.
One of the worst debt consolidation companies has actually had a federal lawsuit filed against it and the FTC and five individual states have filed separate lawsuits against the company. This company declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy but the reality is that they have not gone out of business themselves, they have simply changed into so many other companies that they are most likely around in some form.
Interestingly, many companies do not call themselves ‘debt consolidation companies’ anymore because of the bad press that all of the legal action against this first company generated. You may hear of ‘debt negotiation’ companies or ‘debt settlement’ companies who are basically ‘debt consolidation companies’ who are using illegal tactics and should be avoided.
You can check out any debt consolidation companies, or any other company for that matter, with your local consumer protection agency and the Better Business Bureau in the company's location. Be aware that debt consolidation companies with a good rating may mean absolutely nothing. In fact, over 75% of the complaints received by the Better Business Bureau do not count against the company's rating if the complaint is considered resolved. The Better Business Bureau has no authority to investigate complaints against debt consolidation companies, nor resolve them.
One particular word of advice is to avoid any debt consolidation companies who have a registered address in Maryland or Florida. This is because these two states do not regulate debt consolidation companies. There are so many debt consolidation companies available that if you really feel that this is the best course of action for you then avoiding those in Maryland or Florida should be simple and will save you the worry of dealing with a disreputable organisation.
You can find a number of websites that offer a customer review section for debt consolidation companies. This is worth checking out to see if customers of any of the debt consolidation companies that you are considering signing up with have had problems dealing with them in the past.

Debt And Bill Consolidation

Thursday, July 23, 2009

debt consolidation

Debt and bill consolidation is the practice of paying off many loans with one loan. This is undertaken by debtors for lowering their interest rates on loans and to enjoy the convenience of making a single monthly bill payment than multiple ones. Multiple bill payments increase the chances of missing a payment, which could adversely affect one’s credit score. Sometimes, debtors take one loan to pay off multiple loans with the intention of locking in a fixed interest rate.
The debtor secures a lower interest rate through debt and bill consolidation by paying off unsecured loans, like credit card balances, with a secured loan, like a loan on the house. Since secured loans are less risky for the lending agency, the debtor gets charged a lower interest rate. There can be sizeable gains from reduced interest rates, since credit card interest rates are substantially higher than mortgage interest rates.
Debt and bill consolidation is normally resorted to by people who have used their credit cards considerably above what their current income levels permit them. Students also consolidate their student loans to lower their interest rates and improve their credit rating. Debt and bill consolidation helps one improve one’s credit score by enabling one to make the monthly payments on time and keep credit card debt to a minimum.
There are many debt consolidation companies that help debtors manage their debt through various debt management programs, counseling, and advice. Some of these work for free, while most work for a fee. The psychological benefit of consolidation is immense. However, debt consolidation can work in the long run only if the debtor does not go back to his or her spending ways with credit cards.

Debt Consolidation Services Are Them Better?

Monday, July 13, 2009

debt consolidation
Those companies need more customers, and as I already explained in a previous article, they have very nice sales pitches, like:
“We will help you to eliminate your debts, don't worry”, “Consolidate your bills into one monthly payment without borrowing”, until “Keep your property”...
The “Christian” Debt Consolidation Services seems legitimate at the first glance, but someone who has an eagle eye on the sale process will see in that the name of “Christian” here is taken to get people in a state of confidence.
What does it mean? It mean that by reading this word, something is happening in the customer mind, and ultimately, he will become a customer...
Actually, it is just another pitch, just more appealing to catch even more people, taking them from two sides:
1- You don't have choice,
2- You think they are better than others, that they are legitimate.
People really think that these “Christian Debt Consolidation” companies will help them.
Did we forget what does help mean?
I don't know for you, but if I want to help somebody who needs $10,000, I don't ask him to give me back $12,000 while I know that him and his family are already in troubles. This is pure injustice.
I will give him those $10,000 and when he can give them back to me, I will tell him: thanks for my $10,000. But what if he can't give me my money back?
IF he can't, he can't. When you lend money to someone in difficulties, you pertinently know that you may never see this money again. This is what we call help, and in reality, it is only justice.
I have already done that, and I will continue to do it, without asking any kind of interest.
So, before you decide to go to any of these companies, or others, like debt settlement or debt counseling companies, be sure that you know what you are doing, and more important, be sure that the company is legitimate.
A name is only a name, what is important is people actions...
I don't recommend to go to these companies, but what I recommend is a good money management plan instead. There is a lot of way to earn more money from your home today, with Internet. What people in debt want is not to getting out of debt! What they want is more money.

Debt Consolidation Company Advice: Finding the Best Program Solution

Sunday, July 12, 2009

debt consolidation
There are many Christian debt consolidation companies that may appear to be contradictory to many Christian’s beliefs. These Christian debt and loan consolidation companies however, tell fellow Christians that it is Biblical to take advantage of a consolidating program run by a Christian debt consolidation company.
Whether or not it is acceptable for a Christian to get into debt is being discussed within the Christian community. Some say that it is not alright for a Christian to owe any money, even in cases such as car and home loans. Others say that it is alright to keep some personal debt as long as the item purchased is an asset with the potential to appreciate. Another view of debt being OK is that it was purchased to produce an income or that the value of the item purchased equals or exceeds the amount owed against it or the debt is not so large that repayment puts undue strain on the budget.
Christian debt consolidation companies point to the verses in the scripture regarding debt and borrowing. ‘Owe no man any thing, but to love one another’ (Romans 13:8). Proverbs warns us that, ‘Just as the rich rule over the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender’ (Proverbs 22:7). Christian debt consolidation companies also say that it is very clear in the scripture that we are to pay back what we borrow as it says ‘The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously’ (Psalm 37:21).
Christian debt consolidation companies say that the Lord wants us to live an abundant life which becomes increasingly more difficult with increasing debt and that being free from any financial encumbrances is an incredible empowering feeling. Christian debt consolidation companies are committed to helping people get back control of their finances and become debt free. This is an interesting twist on the words of the scripture but many Christians believe that they cannot deal with a non-Christian organisation but are perfectly comfortable with Christian debt consolidation companies. Interestingly, Christian debt consolidation companies do not have any restrictions on the religious beliefs of the people that they lend to – of course, that would be discrimination, but it is worth wondering why they claim to be Christian debt consolidation companies and not simply debt consolidation companies.
Christian debt consolidation companies claim to be offering people the ability to re-finance their debt at lower interest rates, some even to zero interest. The simple fact is that being a Christian debt consolidation company or a non-Christian debt company does not seem to have made any difference in their ability to make false claims! There is no reason to choose a Christian debt consolidation service over any other apart from personal preference.

Debt Consolidation: The Perfect Follow Up to Debt Management

Saturday, June 27, 2009

debt consolidation Debt consolidation and debt management go hand in hand. Before you consider any type of bill consolidation loan, you should meet with a reputable debt management counselor. You will learn some valuable financial management principles. You will get a specific road map to a debt free life.
Once you’re committed to applying what you’ve learned, a debt consolidation loan can significantly reduce your financial stress. Those bad debt management practices will become history and so will your debts.
The real key to a debt free life is learning how to best handle your finances. A consolidation loan is only a vehicle to help you accomplish your financial goals. Bill consolidation is simply taking out money from one company or lender and using that money to pay off all your debts. Then, you are only responsible for paying one company and one bill. It sounds easy and it is, if you consistently use good debt management practices.
There are several options available to you for consolidating your debt. Here are three of the more common consolidation loans.
Home Mortgage LoansAs a homeowner, you have three types of home loans that can help free up the cash to pay off your existing bills.
First, you could take out a home refinance loan. Ideally, this type of loan should be used when you can get a lower interest rate than you are currently paying on your home. You are taking out a loan from a second financial institution to pay off your existing home loan.
Make sure that your new lower interest rate is a fixed rate. If it is an adjustable interest rate, your payments may increase. It is much easier to accomplish your financial goals when you have a fixed monthly payment.
One more note on refinancing your home. Be sure to check out the terms of the agreement. Many times a financial institution will lure you in with the promise of a low interest rate. However, they may have closing costs and fees that you must pay to get the loan. If you have to pay large fees to get the loan, you may be worse off refinancing your home. Be aware of all the costs involved, not just the interest rate.
The second type of home loan is called a home equity loan. That’s another name for a second mortgage. It means that you have two payments on your home. A home equity loan usually has a fixed interest rate, which is good. It also has a specific number of years, just like your original home loan. However, it should be a much shorter time.
There are two distinct advantages for a home equity loan. It does have the fixed interest rate and there should be no penalty for paying it off early.
There are also some cautions you should know about a home equity loan. If the amount of money you owe from both your original and second mortgage loan is more than the value of your home, you could have problems. For example, if you decide to sell you house, you may have problems with your lenders. They may not want to work with you because of fear of losing their investment.
However, if you do sell your home, you will likely have a debt left over for which you are responsible. So, if you’re planning on moving soon, don’t think too much about a second mortgage.
Finally, as a homeowner, you can get what is called a home equity line of credit. This is where you use your home as collateral. The financial institution sets up a specific amount of money for you to draw on. It is called a revolving line of credit.
The amount of your monthly payment depends upon the outstanding balance of your loan. At a minimum, you must pay interest each month. However, this is not a good practice. It does nothing to reduce your financial debt. The more you pay down the outstanding balance from your line of credit, the less your payment will be each month.
A typical home equity loan may last 5 years. However, beware. If you close the loan before the time is over, you will pay a penalty. If your balance is zero, you will have no payment of interest or penalty.
So, if you pay off the loan early, simply stop using the money. Resist the temptation to use the money for some other debt. When the original period is over, close out the loan.
If you don’t pay off the loan off before the time is over, the loan normally converts to a variable principle and interest loan. It must then be paid off over a set time, such as five (additional) years.
There is one main concern with any type of debt consolidation mortgage loan. If you fail to make your payments, you loose your home.
Credit Card Consolidation LoanWhen you do not own a home, many people use what is called a credit card debt consolidation loan. That’s a big way of saying that you put all your debt from your various credit cards (and other debts) on to just one credit card.
There are three advantages to a credit card consolidation loan. First, there is almost no paper work. There is no big approval process. Second, many companies offer you the first twelve-months with no interest. Third, you will often get a lower interest rate after the first twelve months.
This is a great option, if and only if, you make your payments on time and are able to pay more than the minimum amount required. You should pay as much as possible during the first twelve months. All your money goes to pay off your debt without interest.
Now, here’s the bad news. If you are late on your payment or your payment doesn’t process correctly on time, your twelve months of free interest is over… immediately. Read the fine print. Not only will you loose the free interest, your interest rate will likely be higher than what you were promised after the twelve-month period.
Be very careful. Credit card consolidation can be dangerous to your financial health. You must make payments on time and you must concentrate on paying off as much of your debt as possible. Otherwise, avoid credit card consolidation like the plague.
Borrowing Against Your Retirement Funds If you have a retirement plan from your company, such as a 401 (k) or 403 (b), you can borrow some money from your retirement fund. You will have to pay a set amount of interest, which is usually quite low. However, you are paying yourself. It is your retirement fund.
The key point to remember is that you are borrowing the funds. You are not withdrawing retirement funds. There are two major problems associated with withdrawing retirement funds. First, you will pay a ten percent penalty. Second, you will have to pay taxes on the amount you withdraw. You don’t want either of these options.
You must realize that if you borrow from your retirement funds, it will immediately reduce the amount of funds accumulating for retirement. If you are younger, you may have time to make up for this loss of prior to retirement.
However, you also need to weigh out the cost of paying a high interest rate for your debt. That will also impact your financial future. If you can quickly pay off the higher interest debts, you may be able to concentrate on increasing your retirement funds and restoring your future financial security.
Be sure to talk with someone in your company about the pros and cons of borrowing from your retirement funds.
I hope you’ve learned about a few options for consolidating your debt. If you work hard on your debt management skills and use a good debt consolidation loan, you can become debt free. It may not be easy, but it is worth it.

Debt Consolidation: Help or Danger?

Friday, June 26, 2009

debt consolidation If you’re still in high school, as rich as Croesus or a favorite of Lady Luck, perhaps the term debt consolidation wouldn’t even ring a tiny bell to your ears. But if you’re like the rest of us, with a huge number of bills to pay month after month, creditors to alternately hide from and beg, then I’m sure you know what debt consolidation is all about.
But just for the heck of it, let’s assume that one of this article’s readers has been sleeping under a rock and has no idea what we’re talking about. But the fact remains that he does need a little help financially. Well, debt consolidation is the process of accumulating your bills for one month, adding them up and giving them over to the kind debt consolidation specialist who’s willing to help you for a teensy weensy price. Instead of paying off some, disregarding the others, you get to pay just one flat rate every month and that’s it. Finish. Sounds wonderful right?
And because I’m a good person, I’ll discuss the merits of debt consolidation and the numerous ways it can help you.
The first important thing that debt consolidation can help you with is getting your creditors, bless their nagging souls, off your already aching, heavily burdened back. We all know how these creditors can be nasty at times. They’re good at semantics and etiquette, I’ll give you that, but a threat is still a threat, albeit nicely worded. The phrase “to avoid taking legal actions” never cease to make us shudder, doesn’t it? But that’s when debt consolidation come in to help you. With your permission, they take charge of your creditors. You need not see them again anymore. Big help right? Big, big help!
Now, the next form of help that debt consolidation companies provide you with is part of the program you’ll be working on with whoever your debt consolidation specialist is. One of the questions they’ll ask you is just what kind of help do you need. Do you want your monthly payments to be significantly lowered? Do you need help to keep your interest rates low? Do you require help in talking your bank manager into giving you an extension on the deadline of a loan you’ve taken? The help you’ll get from debt consolidation depends on the program you’re going to take but rest assured that what you want, you will get.
It’s not however a bed of roses with all debt consolidation companies. Sometimes, they help you the other way around. If you had the misfortune to make business with an unscrupulous debt consolidation firm, then that firm may just help push you into further bankruptcy. One way to avoid this is not choosing online debt consolidation companies and not releasing classified information about yourself unless needed.
I’ve said this before but I’ve said this again. In the end, it’s what you want that matters. Those outstanding bills do not signify the end of the world for you. Where there’s a will, there’s always a way, albeit sometimes rocky. You alone can help yourself and if you think debt consolidation is the way to do it, then so be it. But if you’re hesitating a bit and you think that you’re better off without external help and relying on yourself, then that’s a good thing too.

Debt Consolidation : Promises Freedom from Debts?

Thursday, June 25, 2009

debt consolidation Debt consolidation is a process whereby debtors can gain freedom from debts through an arrangement suggested by a loan provider, known as debt consolidation agency. Before allowing the debt consolidation agency to take larger credit for the freedom from debts, many borrowers will question the role they play in the process. Do borrowers actually play so minute a role in the process as depicted? Since it was his loan that was used to pay to creditors and his money being involved in the process how can borrower’s role in the debt consolidation process be discounted thus?
It is not that the debtor or the borrower does not play an important role. It is only that their role is supplementary. Had it not been for the debt consolidation agency, the debtor would have continued with the debts.
Debt consolidation agency provides focus and direction to the attempts by the debtor to come out of debts. Experts from the lending agency study the case of the debtor and then suggest the recommended courses of action. The worst case of debts can be a vicious circle of debts. In a vicious circle of debts, borrowers are never able to come out of the entrapment of debts. Such debts require a revolutionary action, which can be offered only by a debt consolidation agency.
Debt consolidation agency advances a loan to the borrower. Known as debt consolidation loan, this loan that will go towards the payment of debts, rather than individual’s personal income. When personal income does not go towards payment of debts, borrower can continue making expenses to routine heads as earlier. This reduces chances of any future debts.
Debt consolidation is an amalgam of several processes and sub processes. The debt consolidation agency will deploy a loan representative to assist the debtor with the several processes. Borrowers can question every move of the experts. They are free to exercise their discretion on important decisions.
Firstly, borrowers are required to make a total of the several creditors to whom they owe. Categorizing them will make the task of analyzing debts convenient. Debts are to be categorized on the basis of high or low rate, types of debts, time when they are due, and any other basis as the borrower feels necessary.
Having totaled the debts, the borrowers can get onto the task of creating a solution towards debts. Debt settlement is not as plain a task as most of us will feel. A vicious circle of debts as mentioned above requires revolutionary action. Similar is the case with the debts accrued through credit cards. The increase in debts through the high interest rate is a matter of concern. Dealing with the credit card debts in the same manner as a low interest debt will be incorrect. Since credit card debts carry a high rate of interest, they are dealt with on a priority basis. Similarly, the debt consolidation agency utilizes different techniques for different debts and situations.
The debt consolidation agency will also help borrowers with the negotiation on debts. Don’t you bargain with the creditor to lower the rate of interest or lower the amount repayable? The same is done by debt consolidation experts on the behalf of the borrower. The expert induces the creditor to bring down the repayable amount. His principal target is the unsecured creditors. By promising them a one-time payment, the expert is able to bring many of the creditors towards a common thinking.
However, there are a few donts associated with debt consolidation loan. Never use debt consolidation loan as an excuse for incurring debts. If you have taken a debt consolidation loan, you must pay it in full. An unpaid debt consolidation loan is no better than a debt. This will again necessitate a debt consolidation loan. Lenders, who can clearly see that you are a habitual defaulter, would not lend. It is much easier thus to pay the debt consolidation loan. A small monthly payment is all you have to make towards the debt consolidation loan and you are free of all the ensuing problems.

Credit Factors to Consider before Using a Debt Negotiation Company?

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

debt consolidation A relatively new approach to debt resolution, debt settlement or debt negotiation is the process of negotiating with creditors to lower the amount that you owe, typically by as much as 50 to 60 percent. A settlement offer is only attractive to a creditor when a consumer is behind on their payments. The reason why this is the case is that statistically a past due debtor is far more likely to either 1) file bankruptcy; 2) never pay the creditor at all; or 3) cost so much money in any collection efforts that a settlement offer is more profitable for the creditor. The financial incentive of debt settlement is clear for the consumer: you are able to cut your balance in half and presumably eliminate interest altogether. The main downside is that since you have to be past due in order for a settlement to be reached your credit will most likely suffer.
• Debt Settlement and Consumers with Good Credit: The impact should be pretty significant, particularly in the short-term. If you have high balances, however, then even your positive credit history is being weighed down by the negative effect that the amount you owe is having on your credit. This being the case other factors that you should consider are 1) when you anticipate using your credit again and 2) what other options are available to you. If you’re retired and not planning on getting another mortgage, then debt settlement is still probably your best option. If you’re 30 years old and planning on buying a home in the next year or two, I’d probably reconsider. And by reconsider, I mean I’d reconsider debt settlement and getting a house. If you’re buried in minimum payments, then the last thing that you should be thinking about is adding on more debt. If you have no real assets (equity in your home, for example), then debt settlement may be a suitable solution because you don’t have any options at your disposal that don’t affect your credit negatively. On the other hand, if you have a lot of equity in your home, then it may be your best option to tap into it because the credit impact of debt settlement may cost you more in the long run if you try to refinance or buy another home.
• Debt Settlement and Consumers with Average Credit: As a result of debt settlement you will still take a sizable hit in the short-term, but it will be far easier for consumers with average credit to restore their score to where it was when they entered the program versus consumers with good credit. Keep in mind, if you’re the sort of consumer that has always made payments on time, but you’re still stuck with a mediocre credit score, then it’s probable that in the long-run debt settlement will help you by eliminating the debt that dragging down the amount owed component of your credit score. With some proactive rebuilding after completing your debt settlement program, you should be in a better position to obtain a loan than when you contacted your debt negotiation company.
• Debt Settlement and Consumers with Bad Credit: For those of us with bad credit (600 FICO score and below), the impact of debt settlement may still be negative in the short-term, but the credit impact will be so negligible that the savings from enrolling high interest credit cards will most likely overcome it. Moreover, if your accounts are already in collections and charged-off, then debt settlement will likely improve your credit score since you’d be paying off seriously past due accounts. If you fit in this boat, then debt settlement is an ideal fit because you save a lot of money while sacrificing much less from a credit standpoint.

Credit Card Debt Consolidation: The 3 Factors to Consider

Thursday, June 11, 2009

debt consolidation If you’ve got a number of credit cards and insurmountable credit card debt, then perhaps it’s time to consider a debt consolidation loan. A consolidation loan is a loan that you can use to pay off all your debts, meaning that you can pay them off for less money without having to worry about lots of different bills.
For instance, if you had borrowed $3000 five years ago, you may now owe $5000 (principle plus interest). A debt consolidation program may involve eliminating some amount of interest so that you pay less than $5000.
Also, your previous outstanding balances may be on five different credit cards. You need to pay 5 bills every month. Once you participate in a debt consolidation program, all your accounts will be consolidated into one account. You now pay only one bill each month.
In a credit card debt consolidation, your average interest rate may be reduced. All your loans can also be transferred to one single card that has a lower interest rate than the ones you are currently paying.
Here are top three factors to consider for Credit card debt consolidation:
1. Interest Rate
Get the best interest rate you can if you opt for debt consolidation. This interest rate is almost as important as the one on your mortgage, but much harder to change after you’ve signed on the dotted line. Don’t be fooled by any offers that give you a good rate for a limited time – you’re going to have this loan for quite a while.Interest rates for credit card debt consolidation loans through traditional lenders may be based on your credit score. If high, you are likely to get a credit card debt consolidation loan at a lower interest rate. If the credit score is low, credit card debt help companies may be able to help offer methods for raising your credit score.
2. The loan tenor or length of the loan
The most overlooked aspect about debt consolidation loans is that the ones with lower payments generally last a very long time – you may end up paying it off for twenty years, or even longer. You should try to find a loan that doesn’t last as long, and asks for payments that are as much as you can afford.
3. A payment sum that you can manage.
Almost without exception, the loan will be secured on your home. That means that if you start missing payments, the finance company will kick you out, take (‘repossess’) your house, sell it, and pay back the debt with that money.

Bill Consolidation Company: The Basics

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

debt consolidationBill consolidation companies handle payments for your accounts and lower your rates. They can also negotiate waivers for late payment fees. Before signing up with a company, you will want to compare rates and terms. You also need to monitor your payment statements to be sure there are not errors.
Helping Your Get Out Of Debt
Bill consolidation companies, also known as debt management plans or DMP, eliminate your short term debt within five years. They also lower your interest rates with creditors, who set predetermined rates. All companies will get you the same low rate. In some cases, creditor will also agree to waive any late payment or other fees if you are working with a DMP.
You pay the bill consolidation company one payment, which includes their fee. They then pay the accounts you have agreed to consolidate. Interest rates from some debts, including student loans or mortgages, cannot be reduced and do not make sense to hand over.
Fees are based on each account handled. Monthly fees are the most common practice, but some companies charged large upfront fees. Since many clients drop out of the plan before completion, monthly fees are the better option.
Some creditors will report to the credit reporting agency your use of a DMP. This may temporarily prevent you from opening new accounts. But after several months of regular payments, your credit may be in good enough standing to qualify to open credit card accounts. After a year, you may also be able to apply for a mortgage.
Finding The Best Companies
The best bill consolidation companies solely handle debt management. Companies that offer other services, such as debt negotiation or bankruptcy, don’t always provide the best service.
When you investigate companies, ask when your accounts will be paid off. Reputable companies will give you a different date for each account since they know what the current rates are. All the need to know from you are your account balances and creditors’ names.
As with any purchase, you also want to compare fees. By requesting quotes from several companies, you will quickly find out what is reasonable.
Watching Your Statements
Paperwork mix-ups, defunct business, or poor service can all result in missed or late payments on your credit history. To protect yourself from a lower credit score, continue to monitor your bill statements. At the first sign of a problem, call your creditor and bill consolidation company to resolve the issue. This preventative approach can save you hundreds in fees and higher interest rates.

A Guide To Online Debt Consolidation

Saturday, May 2, 2009

debt consolidation Many people face financial constraints in their lives and are often burdened with loans. They may seek a way out of their debt to ease their problems. Online debt consolidation services help them to minimize their debt and can erase debt in a fast, efficient way.
Online debt consolidation works by taking several large monthly payments owed and turning them in one manageable monthly payment. Creditors compensate most of the costs related to debt consolidation, because they are aware that receiving lower payments from an individual every month at reduced interest rates is more acceptable than filing for bankruptcy. Online debt consolidation can provide the creditor a way to retrieve the principal amount billed on one’s account.
Consumers who cannot make minimum monthly payments on their credit cards and unsecured debts will do well to get in touch with an online debt consolidation firm. A single monthly payment can significantly reduce payment amounts. This can reduce an individual’s anxiety and eliminate debt in a remarkably short period of time. However, it should be remembered that online debt consolidation firms do not loan money. Rather, they offer help in reducing monthly payments and give necessary information about the time it may take to become debt free.
Remember that interest rates can increase somewhat when one enters into a consolidation contract. That percentage increase can be as little as a quarter of a percent, but if the debt is large, can add up to hundreds or thousands of dollars in the long run. Make sure that you really do need to consolidate before signing anything.
